5 Messenger Marketing Best Practices [Video]

The first step is done, you’ve signed up for ManyChat! Now what?

OK, it might seem daunting to know where to start. As a small business owner, you are extremely busy. You wear multiple hats. You’re the accountant, community manager, administration, HR, etc., etc. You’re running from place to place, putting out fires, all while trying to grow your business and stay positive.

When do you even have time to think?

Well, to help you take your business to the next level, we want to help you create the best Messenger bot possible. That’s why we’re sharing five Messenger Marketing best practices to help take the work off your plate. Because your success is our success.

5 Messenger Marketing Best Practices

1. Create a Personality aka Being Conversational

Unless they’re programmed to have a little Moxie, bots can be pretty boring, and your bot is an extension of your brand, so you need to match the tone of your bot to the audience you’re catering towards.

So here we’ve got two examples of bots. Juniper Landscape is a high-end landscape architecture firm. Their tone caters to their high-end clients: things are a little bit more serious, a little bit more austere, but it gets the job done.

Our second example is Buzzkill, they’re a parody heavy metal band, so it’s silly, it’s fun, but it’s the kind of stuff that their audience is just gonna eat right up.

2. Use Lots of Images and GIFs

A wall of text isn’t gonna do much to make your bot seem relatable, approachable, or interesting. One strategy that’s been hugely successful for Messenger Marketers, is the use of animated GIFs. They help humanize your bot. And don’t forget about emojis. All of these will help you build trust with your audience, and convey a more conversational tone.

3. Deliver Valuable Content

No matter the application you’re trying to cover with your Messenger bot, customers won’t stay engaged if the content’s not worth their time. Manuel Suarez, CEO of AGEA Marketing has something to say about that:

“You will not be able to expand unless you focus on providing value to them. The social media world right now is being won by those that provide value first, without asking for things in return.”

4. Build in a Library of Keywords to Match a Variety of Queries

Without a doubt, keywords are one of the most useful and important parts of ManyChat. This feature gives you the power to create automatic responses based on different user inputs. This is one part of ManyChat that you’ll definitely want to get acquainted with. Keywords play a big part in setting up highly-interactive chatbots

5. Test Your Bot

You want to make sure that whatever tool you’re using to grow your business looks right and functions properly before you share it with your audience. Test each conversation and feature you built into your bot, and since, we can’t always spot our own mistakes, ask a friend or a co-worker to help check your work.

Now that you’ve got the five best practices for Messenger Marketing, go out there and build your bot. You got this!
