Novena Church is officially called The Church of St Alphonsus. It is a devotional Church dedicated to the devotion of our Mother of Perpetual Help. It came to be popularly known as Novena Church because of its weekly Saturday devotions to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. The Novena Church is run by a male religious missionary congregation called the Redemptorists. The Redemptorists, together with the laity, are committed to building a community of disciples that leads others to an experience of plentiful redemption with Christ the Redeemer. They do this in 3 ways: i) Evangelisation - sharing of faith ii) Authentic worship - experiencing God's grace and conversion of hearts iii) Service to the poor and abandoned. The Church welcomes people from all over to pray and to find peace, to receive healing and hope, and to experience life and love, making the Shrine a centre of hospitality and mercy - to provide assistance to all.
