Growing up was easy all the way to the age of thirteen. I was blessed to be provided with every blessing of upbringing, faith, financial security, you name it. I never understood the concept of money because it was always there. At the age of 13 that all changed forever. My step dad’s addiction crushed our family and financial status and we became that broken home statistic. My mother instantly was forced to start over. No home, no car, no savings, and became a single mother of three young girls. Life of luxury to nothing just like that. My mother taught me strength, independence, and consistency from this day forward. She sacrificed having a room and slept on a couch for years just so I could have my own space as a teenager. She took us to the beach every weekend because it was free but never let us feel the burden of her finances. She took the weight of the world and attacked every day with a fearless attitude for success. No one was going to take her education, degree, and passion away from her. She got her master’s degree in education and finally rebuilt everything she had lost. FEARLESS! In 2006, her world be shattered again. As the assistant principal of a school her responsibilities were draining. When her father passed she was called on to take care of her widowed mother. She had to retire early. Financially she became drained and the crash of 2008 put her back at square one of having to start over again! She began searching to get hired again and guess what? She was OVER QUALIFIED! My mother did everything right! The 40 year plan! The American Dream! Go to school get your degree get a good job retire! Nowhere did it say PS you might have to start all over in your 50s. I was furious. Lesson 1: Independence Lesson 2: Plan B is a must at all times Lesson 3: The system is broken When I graduated from high school I decided I was going to find a better way. I was retiring for real at 35! I didn’t know HOW but I knew I WOULD. The journey began at 18 waitressing, bartending, and networking with anyone I could to find an opportunity for me. Someone was going to lead me to my CHANCE! Little did I know Network Marketing was waiting for me 8 years in the future! In 2006, I met a mentor who taught me how to capitalize on my relationships by inviting them to events. Basically… promotions. He took me under his wing taught me everything he knew and showed me how to leverage these relationships into coming every week to OUR party. In 3 months, I proved I was capable of being a leader and ran his events with him for some time. I was excited! Making great money branded my name in the industry and had POWER! 2 years went by and I felt empty. This was just a stepping stone for me. It wasn’t my retirement. In 2008 I went back to work for my dad. I could build his business and retire there! It’s family why not? I grew extremely tired of working 8 am to 7 pm every day. Building someone else’s dream. I was living to work not working to live. In 2010 my life changed forever! Anaiyah was born. I gave up the dream and settled that being an entrepreneur was not for me. I accepted a job for a third party company connected to Amazon where again I built in one year a HUGE business! For THEM…. Again not me…. Being an employee made me angry. I began praying for that OPPORTUNITY again. 2012 I received THAT CALL. An old boyfriend from high school asked me if I was happy with my financial situation if I was happy at my job and I said NO! He asked if I understood residual income and asked if I kept my options open when it came to making money. Ummmmm yes! For 2 years I grinded with this company! I gave it every bone in my body! This was it! I could taste my retirement! I could take care of my mother give her what she deserves! HAHA Just kidding…. I didn’t make a $. I actually spent more than I was making. I grew resentful of the industry and felt like I was sold a dream! Looking back, I NOW have gratitude. I have humbled myself to what that company gave me: 1 2 years of free therapy! 2 Personal Growth 3 Work Ethic 4 Taught me “systems don’t fail – people fail systems” 5 FinancialFreedom 6 Introduced me to network marketing 7 Rebuilt belief I lost in myself I was on the prowl again. March 2014 I was approached again. This time I was READY. Nothing was getting in my way. This was my SHOT! My families SHOT at success and I made the choice to take this to the top. In 4 short months, I became the top 14 in my second company! Lessons in my story: 1 My past, my failures, my traditional up-bringing, my experiences all led me to today. 2 My belief didn’t let me quit. 3 My passion became my accountability. 4 My work ethic made it possible. Your WHY will set your belief and passion Your HOW will be the consistency Your WHAT is your actions Why are you here? How are you going to do it? What are you going to do about it? Marina Simone
