Back in 2009, I was working a great job as a food scientist, when I got laid off. Instead of wasting my energy lamenting, I hit the ground running and decided to create a job for myself from my passion. I had always loved cooking and creating new recipes, so I decided to start my own catering company. My idea quickly took on a life of its own and I ended up opening a full service organic restaurant! At first things were great, I was living my passion, setting a great example for my daughter and running a thriving restaurant. Demand grew, so I expanded our hours, added delivery and introduced more offerings to our menu. Pretty soon, I was being run into the ground and barely saw sunlight, except what seeped through the restaurant windows. Living what I thought was my dream, was actually draining my health instead of nourishing it. Within a year and a half of opening the restaurant, I knew I had to shut it down. I wanted time with my daughter back, I wanted my freedom and I wanted my flexibility back. One day, soon after I closed the restaurant, I saw an article about other nutritionists who were getting an advanced degree in health coaching. This allowed them the coach via phone, Skype, etc. I thought this would be perfect. I could still mentor others to achieve their ultimate health but retain my freedom! This went great for a while, as I built my coaching practice. Pretty soon, though, I was back where I had started. I had hundreds of coaching clients and was chained to my phone all day with texts constantly buzzing even during my few moments alone. Around that same time, I had seen a few articles about a new course called launch your dream book that looked interesting. It proposed that you could elevate the value of your coaching by packaging all that I had acquired through practical experience, education and coaching into a book. Then, I could coach fewer clients at a higher lever.....regaining my freedom. I excelled in the course, completing two books before the course was even over then going on to help mentor future classes. My first book became an Amazon #1 bestseller but I was still chained to my coaching practice, in-person gigs and traditional marketing. I was being run ragged promoting and trying to make good money. I knew the next step was to learn more about marketing and scaling up my business. I took every course I could get my hands on! I thought I had acquired all the tools to take back my freedom but many of the tools were difficult to use together and very time consuming. I knew there had to be a better way...
