General Practice Training Queensland (GPTQ) is a not-for-profit public company whose mission is to deliver vocational education for doctors wishing to become general practitioners. GPTQ also provides ten to twelve week rotational general practice work experience opportunities for hospital doctors, as part of the Prevocational General Practice Placement (PGPP) program. GPTQ stakeholders include GP Registrars, GP supervisors, GP training practices, training hospitals, universities, RACGP, ACRRM and other GP organisations that are involved in the GP training landscape. In 2013, GPTQ commenced delivery of the Overseas Trained Doctor National Education and Training (OTDNET) program which offers overseas trained doctors who are working in a general practice environment to participate in general practice education and training. Our AGPT and PGPP education and training programs are based on an apprenticeship model in accredited community settings and/or accredited hospital settings. GPTQ’s education and training programs are collaboratively developed and implemented utilising carefully planned training workshops and seminars some of which are delivered centrally, others regionally, and others in the local Training Practice setting. Our AGPT and PGPP programs are delivered through a network of dedicated and committed Training Practices, their Supervisors, Practice Managers and Practice staff.
