Clemson Sports Talk is shifting gears and taking its coverage of the Clemson Tigers to the next level. In the coming weeks, we will be launching a brand new website that is going to offer Clemson Tiger Nation a new home for premium coverage of the 2016 College Football Playoff National Champions, as well as all other Clemson Athletics. As exciting as this venture is, it is a costly venture and we are in need of your support. Our goal is to raise a minimum $2500 dollars per month in pledged gifts. The purpose of these funds is to offset initial startup costs, including: salary for senior writer, website development and maintenance, as well as travel costs associated with providing you, the fan, "Five Star Coverage of Your Five Star Program." Please take time to look over our pledge page and consider helping us take Clemson Sports Talk to the next level. We are not asking for your pledge to be long-term commitment. In fact, if you are one of the first 25 people willing to support us in advance of the website's release at the $100 dollar level, we will comp you your first two years as a Premium Member of our website. If you would like to become a sustaining partner and give a recurring donation of any level, we would be grateful as your generosity as it will significantly help us kick-start our website. In addition to the new website, we will continue to broadcast our two hour daily radio show which can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1400 from 6-8 PM weeknights. You can also listen at home via devices like the Amazon Echo, Google Home or on any device that has the iHeart Radio App. There are also podcast editions of the show that you can enjoy at your leisure on your smartphone, Amazon Echo or Google Home device. Feel free to contact us if you need guidance on how to get that to work. Yes, we have advertisements and local supporters, but with your direct support, we will be positioned for a great run with our new website. Your contributions will also help us stabilize our business as we grow. We can't do it without you! Here is our story.... After graduating from Clemson, Lawton Swann moved to the Midlands and found that he didn't enjoy the local sports programming. Local radio in Columbia, "Never spoke to me as a Clemson fan." Swann set out to create a show that would speak to Clemson Tiger fans around the world. At the time, podcasting was in it's infancy and Lawton decided to give it a shot. In late 2004, Swann began researching podcasting and by August of 2005 he had partnered with a Clemson website and created his first podcast. Fast forward eight years and Swann was offered the chance to host Clemson Hotline for CRM Sports and this would eventually lead Swann to hosting a two hour daily show, Y'all Sports Daily. Y'all Sports Daily was heard in several different states and was Lawton Swann's first real opportunity to be on the radio regularly. Eventually, Swann was contacted by L.J. Smith at iHeart Media and on July 15, 2013, Clemson Sports Talk, hit the airwaves on the largest AM signal in South Carolina. In October of 2014, our station shifted from SportsRadio 560 The Team to Fox Sports Radio 1400 as iHeart Media rebranded our station on a new frequency where we continue to broadcast daily. Even though Swann's show was now on five days a week, he continued to embrace the podcast listeners. A daily podcast of Clemson Sports Talk has been available since day one. Through the years, the show has grown and now boasts over 15,000 followers on Twitter. There is potential that the show will soon be on in multiple markets around the state of South Carolina. But our latest undertaking is the most significant one that we've ever made. Clemson Sports Talk is adding Zach Lentz, a fellow Clemson graduate, as our Senior Writer. Zach brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Clemson Sports Talk brand. He was most recently on the Clemson beat with The Orangeburg Times and Democrat. Our former intern Lowell Aydlette is now assuming a larger roll and will not only assist with production of the radio show, but he will also be a part of our web staff. We would love for you to join us and help us get this new venture off the ground. We have been blessed to cover your Tigers for nearly 13 years. We are looking forward to expanding our coverage for you and giving you a new home online for your Clemson Sports coverage. Thank you for supporting Clemson Sports Talk.
